Teaching staff learnt last week that Spence’s contribution to the Sydney institution will be honoured with a new $60 million administrative building carrying his name. But there’s one element of the Spence Farewell Festival that has some staff up in arms. Until then, the farewell tour and leaving celebrations are continuing in earnest. The Sydney-born law academic will leave the university on December 14 and jet out of Sydney before the end of the year bound for the UK where he has been appointed the next president of the prestigious University College of London.
